Janel D. Sexton, Ph.D., MA is a social and health psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University. She received graduate training in Counseling from San Diego State University and completed her doctoral work in psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. Her work focuses on how people cope with upheavals, and the role that expressive writing can play in helping caregivers move beyond traumatic and stressful events. Her research and expertise also include diversity issues.

Josie King Nursing Awards
For 2011, the Josie King Foundation is partnering with the American Nurses Foundation to award a $10,000 research grant to a nurse-led project focusing on improving patient safety. Albert Wu, MD, MPH is a practicing internist and professor of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is interested in improving the quality and safety of medical care, and how medical errors are handled when they occur. Albert Wu has argued since the early 1990’s that physicians are obligated to tell patients and families about medical errors.
